7. Assassin’s Creed Shadows

The Assassin’s Creed series has been going strong for a long while now, and last year’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage was a good homage to the original game which came out in 2007. It was also a more linear, shorter entry than the earlier Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. But now, Ubisoft will be delivering another massive open-world game, and one set in Sengoku-era Japan, a setting demanded by fans over the years. As was the case with Valhalla, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will also feature two protagonists, and you can choose to play as a samurai of African origin named Yasuke or his shinobi ally Naoe.

In the gameplay video below, Yasuke can be seen going after and fighting a corrupt samurai in a village. He’s later joined by Naoe, who infiltrates a castle in order to carry out an assassination mission in the middle of the night… The game also boasts interesting features such as changing weather (which has an impact on gameplay) and a highly detailed Japanese setting according to Ubisoft, so maybe this will likely be one of the top games to arrive later in 2024.

Release date: November 15, 2024. Available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
